I am thrilled to be the Dean of Students at HTMMA! I love being an educator, seeing students evolve, and helping them navigate through the tumultuous years of middle school. I was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and come from a huge, extended family. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in History and Secondary Education from Hofstra University in Long Island, NY. I taught Social Studies for several years in NY and NJ. My students and I often took our classroom outdoors to NYC to visit the stock exchange, local museums, and historical sites. I left the East Coast for year-round warm weather and found myself in sunny San Diego. A student I was tutoring introduced me to High Tech High and I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of this community. I taught Humanities at High Tech Middle and few other charter schools over the past 13 years. I loved teaching Humanities and being able to share my passions: history, writing, books, and the arts with my students. As I start this new journey as Dean of Students, I look forward to connecting with and supporting all students, and assisting in making our school community be safe, joyful, and engaging! In addition to starting a new role at HTMMA, I’m also earning my Masters in Educational Leadership at Cal State San Marcos. Besides being an educator and student, I am the mother of two very special 12 year old twins who are my reasons why I do everything that I do! My husband is a Design Engineer and is the love of my life. When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family and our pup doing anything outdoors. Some of my favorite things to do include remodeling our new home, gardening, teaching my dog new tricks, visiting my family and friends in NY and NJ, and cooking with my kids.
