Hi all! I am a California transplant born and raised in New Jersey, but most recently living in Dallas, Texas for the last two years. After graduating from Oklahoma Christian University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and graphic design and advertising, I felt the calling to work with Teach for America (2014) where I was placed in Elizabeth/Newark, NJ and recieved my Masters. Once completing my TFA commitment, I realized how important and meaningful teaching is and continued to teach – moving myself to Dallas to work at a KIPP charter school as a 6th and 7th grade math teacher. It was there that I was able to truly see the growth my students experienced through the dramatic increase in met and exceeded standardized test scores. I continued teaching for another year in Arlington at a high school, where I experienced similar success and growth with my students. Needing a change of pace, I moved to San Diego and was amazed by the work being done at our school. I am so excited to teach math through a project based community. When I’m not teaching I like to spend time with my dogs, soak up the sun in Ocean Beach, take hikes, get on planes, travel to all of the places, and do lots of art. I enjoy woodworking and drawing pictures. I also enjoy trying to convince myself I am good at surfing.
