Lineage was rolling out new warehouse algorithms that could feel opaque on the floor, especially for teams coming from earlier systems. The Data Team needed a clear way to explain what the tools were doing without jargon, without sounding condescending, and without implying people were replaceable. It also had to stay accurate, generalize beyond one facility, and give the team a story they could reuse in presentations to support adoption. It had to earn trust fast.
Build "trust" in "warehouse" algorithms "without" jargon "or" condescension
We translated Lineage’s algorithm logic into an animated explainer that clarified the “why” behind warehouse tasking. A facility tour grounded visuals, then we iterated with subject matter experts to keep the language plain and accurate. We wrote the script and storyboards, designed isometric art and characters, cast and directed actors, including Apollo, scored the piece, and delivered captions and subtitles. We supplied slide decks and assets for internal presentations and later added an opening disclaimer.
Key Takeaways
When outcomes are hard to share publicly, the process has to carry the proof and make learning visible too.
Start with observation: a site visit helps you map the pallet life cycle and choose what to visualize, simplify, and omit.
Balance accuracy with accessibility: iterate with SMEs, translate logic into everyday words, and keep the tone non condescending.
Design for reuse: consistent characters, clear chapters, and captions let teams pause, clip, and replay sections without losing the thread.
Ship the presentation kit: the film plus decks and assets so internal teams can teach without you, and add context updates like disclaimers when needed.
